Cleveland PPI may be needed...

I'll reciprocate in the denver area, or cover expenses...(beer)?

I'll know in a day or so....depending on some answers to questions...car has some rust.

I need someone familiar with the typical rust areas on early cars...I mean brutally familiar. Car will not be driven. Just need confirmation of structural integrity.

Thanks in advance.

Stay away from Ed Erb (EPR) - total putz. Search for previous threads on Cleveland shops and you'll see my frustration from the work the PO of my 77 had done there.

Steinel's is a great, Porsche-only shop, although it is not a body shop. It is in Twinsburg, SE of Cleveland. You might want to contact them to see what they recommend. Talk with Eric Steinel. Contact info is below.

Good luck.

Body shop

As Doug said, Steinels is a great p-car shop in Twinsburg.

If you are looking for bodywork, one of the best is Panelwerks in Mentor.

I agree with Pete. What Panelwerks does with rusted hulks of 356s is nothing short of amazing. They take on projects that I would consider impossible.

Their Website offers some examples, although the rusted cars I saw when I was there were even worse than those on the Website.

I am not sure how knowledgeable they are about 911s, but they clearly know rust!

Hey Doug, doesn't knowing rust go without saying in NE Ohio?

BY the way, you've got to stop over and check out my new 9s .

thanks guys..

To be more specific...the car is mid 60s and has all kinds of issues. We are not talking a driver that I can drive to a shop. We are talking a roller with a known seized motor, and some "non-existant rust" that needs to be identified. Owner admits to the rust, but is not a PCA guy and plays "dumb" as to condition. I'm dealing with responses like..."well, considering the age, it's in pretty good shape!" I don't care about the mechanicals, only the shape of the structure. I guess instead of asking for a PPI, I need someone to go look for the rust where it probably is, and give me a damage assessment.

Thanks

speedo - Let us know what part of town the car is. I would be happy to take a look and let you know, assuming it is nearby. Get more details on location and let us know. I have to warn you, the temps are in the single digit so can't promise a comprehensive assessment?

I appreciate the help...I'll let you know shortly. If Colorado had any heat to send your way...we would. We do have snow...want some snow?

I agree with the two other posts - Steinels and Panelworks depending on what you need to have inspected.

I know my sig says Austin, but I spent 35 years in NE Ohio and the owner of Steinels was my neighbor at one point. I still don't trust anyone with my car as much as them.

PPI needed...or not

I finally got pictures...not as represented. It was a wack-job car....rust, not real fuchs and a bogus motor. I gave the guy a serious heads-up as to what he really didn't have...if he accepts my offer, no PPI will be needed. Thanks guys!
