9" replicas
Does anybody have any "good" experience with Fuchs replicas? I have been trying to find a pair of 16 x 9" rims moderately priced. They seem to be worth their weight in gold! I have heard all of the problems associated with replicas, weight, cracking etc. However, I have heard a rumor that there is a Japanese company that makes a good light weight rim. Before I get any questions…no this is not going onto a Honda!
Any ideas? ------------------ 81 targa guy |

Performance Products (I'm sorry I can't remember their homepage adress) sells some japanese cast Fuchs replicas.
Remember that cast wheels are not as strong or light as the forged original Fuchs are. |

Consider this as part of the decision, the Fuchs replica wheels have almost no resale value. At least if you buy the real ones you can resell them or add value to your car. I wouldn't buy the replicas myself, how about used 3 piece BBS wheels? Or maybe you don't like the way they look?

Many years ago I purchased a set of fake Fuchs (say that fast three times) from an outfit called American Eagle. They are no longer in business, but, the wheels were very good. They were aluminum so polishing was easy, and they cost $125 a pop. No one but a purist knew the difference. I had no problem with the wheels and they looked fantastic all polished up. Cheap price, good look, no problems. Find someone who has a set currently made and see what they think.
By the way - I sold them a few years back for more than I paid for them. [This message has been edited by RarlyL8 (edited 11-28-2000).] |
