Wider plug gap with Bosch CD on '69 T?
Is there anything to gain by increasing the stock spark plug gap with a factory 3-pin Bosch CD box?
Engine is a stock '69 T with Webers in a '68 911. Replaced the Marelli with a Bosch distributor and added the CD. I'm not having any running issues, just wondering if there's any reason to go larger than stock. Thanks, Mike |

If'n it ain't broke, don't fix it.
there are conditions where a wider plug gap is useful

Mike, the factory-recommended plugs for your engine were the very expensive, old Bosch Platinum W235P21s, and they had fixed gaps of 0.24". I don't know of anyone recommending those plugs these days.
When other plugs such as NGK BP6ES, or the newer V-Power BP6EY are used, most people have used 0.028" - 0.032" gaps with great success! Those are the plugs and gap that I would suggest you use. Here is an NGK booklet that may be helpful: http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/docs/tech/Racing_Spark_Plugs_Performance_Applications.pdf
