I need my gloves!!

I have a 71T, the keys fit in the doors and ignition, but do not fit in the glove box. Is there a way to open it without damaging anything?

John

Sometimes they can be jimmied open with a credit card. I've also heard of opening them with a piece of monofilament fishing line inserted from the side and behind the latch, then looped and pulled. It seems to happen with some regularity and you can search for threads that have covered this. Good luck.

I can't offer any advice, but I got a kick out of your subject line. Makes me wonder -- has anyone ever actually put gloves in their glovebox? I know I haven't.

Good question Zithlord. I have the opposite problem... My glovebox is permanently unlocked and my ignition key will not latch it. Anybody have suggestions for solving that?

I do. I always drive with driving gloves. Sometimes I leave them on the seat but usually they live in the glove box.

Pull the lock out and take it and the ignition key to a good locksmith. They can work the tumblers to make it fit, but the question is what would the cost be.

If you are good at making things this is not difficult once you pull the lock core out and figure out how it works. Would be a good nights or weekend project for someone handy with their hands. You know, like an A&P watching the Super Bowl?

I'm with Dave, I always drive with driving gloves. Never put them in the glove box tho.

There's nothing like a winding road, shades and driving gloves. Oh, and a Porsche....

Thanks Joeaska. But therein lies the rub, I am not an A&P. But I will be watching the Super Bowl. Go Bears!

Scott - if you're referring to your 69, you shouldn't have a glove box door on anyway. Pull that thing off!

Up here in Canada we call them AME's. Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. Although some of the AME's I work with at an anonymous airline don't always live up to the "engineer" namesake.

Curt,
OK, OK, I'll pull it off. I guess I shouldn't install the air ventilation system that I recently bought then, now should I? I don't think that I can pull anything else off to get any lighter weight. Well, I could go to FG rear bumpers... And I could change the rear and quarter windows to plexi ala R style...
