Window washer Questions

my 88 911 was from the south west for most of its life.

Now here in the cold NE, i still have old water in the washer jug..

1: is there an easy way to drain the thing to get water out?
Adding more Washer fluid just doesnt seem to do it.
2: is it normal for the fluid to take 3 or so seconds to get to the window?

Any siphoning device available at a local parts store should take care of removing the old washer fluid...or you could use a turkey baster (may take longer).

Check to see if your system has a "check valve". This valve stops the washer fluid from returning all the way to the tank. A correctly operating valve will keep the fluid in the tube and allow for faster delivery when you activate the pump (rather than pulling all the way from the reservoir every time.)

Good luck.

I think 3 seconds is about right, even with a new pump and new valves.

I'd recommend taking the washer tank off (a big pain in the butt) for the following reasons: (1) clean dirt and mud off of the body at the point where the top of the washer bottle comes into contact with the body (2) remove the washer bottle cap and clean mold off of the inside of the washer and the pickup screen, which can clog with mold (3) refill with 100% distilled water and clean washer fluid.

If your washer has a headlight washer system, then it'll be twice as hard to remove the reservoir, I know because mine has one. It's still worth it though.

I just took the check valve out of mine and found it doesn't significantly add to the time to get water out of the nozzles.

Otherwise, you need to get the check valves from Porsche or Pelican. The right side I believe is a T valve with a check valve built in, and the right side is an inline.

Buy some spare tubing about 2-3 feet at the same time so that you can contend with any bad parts by replumbing the system.

You got two check valves in the upper section of the system...One L model and the other one is a T model...P/N are 914-628-433-00 and 477-955-481
