parked windshield wipers,THANKS

I read this board everyday and have learned more than I ever thought. And for that I owe all of you a huge thank-you. I just fixed my no park, no intermittent windshield wiper problem in prep for my move to Florida next week. Give me 2 days of clear roads and I'm out of here. Thanks again to all, Paul

Congrats. What was the nature of the fix? Good luck (sincerely) on getting 2 clear road days.

Ditto what Paul says - I replaced the whole wiper assembly because the motor was failing. But these two issues remain. I'm so happy just to have wipers that I haven't looked up the issues involved.

The contacs within the wiper switch needed to be tweeked just a little after 19 years and 145,000 mi. They are copper or brass i guess so they loose thier position over time. I searched no parking windshield wipers and found lots of stuff.

Thanks. That's probably the most common, and certainly the easiest fix. Just wanted to get it on record in this thread.

When you talk about the wiper switch, are you referring to a switch in the stering column? is it mated to the stalk? I've never torn that far into my steering column before.

This is the same type of failure that affects the headlight stalk on the other side of the column. If you need to fix one side, may as well do the other. Just fixed this on my SC.
