Recently bought this car-no tool kit. Should I buy a complete kit from a dismantler or am I better off assembling a kit from scratch? Wondering if all the stock tools are usable or there are better options out there?

The wrenches that come in the toolkit are just the right length for fitting in some tight areas on the car. The pulley wrench and spark plug tool are also good to have. Other than that I'd build a kit from scratch.

Depends on what the dismantler is charging for a complete kit. The correct early ones are pricey. One for your '89 ought to be a few dollars and you will get the esoteric tools.

Make sure you get the correct year kit. Some tools change.

John,
It's likely missing the spare tire air compressor as well. If you plan on doing some of you own work many of the tools supplied like the sparkplug wrench are the best. Don't forget the spare V-belt. Gloves too. Then you can think about a flashlight, fuses, DME relay.
Others can chime in about what to carry.

Shop around and you'll be able to get a good deal on a complete toolkit for your car. I bought mine for $150 a few years ago and it was complete and accurate for a '74. The Klein spark plug tool really helps!!
