Question for updating to a newer Strut

Gents,

Question for experts:
I plan to buy a set of newer struts for my 1970 911T, (yes, I am looking for a VGC set w/ 3.5 inch brake caliper spacing). Once I get the item, what else must I buy or replace on the car to install the newer struts? I have rebuilt 911S Alum calipers in a box.

Items are the following:
1. Buy new strut inserts to match the strut, don't used the ones that may come with the used part.
2. Ball joints to fit the newer strut.
3. Update the pin at the bottom of the strut ??? not sure about this.
4. Buy new bearings - inner and outer.
5. Brake lines.

Any help please! TIA
Vr,
Bavaria911

Can't answer them all, but the front suspension from any SC or Carrera will bolt onto your tub. They all have a 3.5" front brake caliper mount and an aluminum crossmember. If there are any worn parts (strut inserts, bushings, ball joints, wheel bearings, etc., replace or repair them - which should lead you to look for one in good condition so it's pretty much a bolt-on (save for upgrades). Purchasing just the struts is fine too, but a lighter crossmember and Carrera calipers/rotors are pluses.
