It¡Çs here! ¡Ä My new Kaminari Targa top skin.

I ordered this Kaminari Targa top from the EBay wholesaler/reseller, tunersoutlet. The auction looked to good to be true, $399.00 + $60.00 for shipping! So I contacted Kaminari to confirm that the seller was in fact an authorized reseller. Everything checked out so I purchased the part. Here are the images of the top just as I pulled it front the shipping package. As you can see from the image, my cat Totoro checked it out and said, ¡ÈEverything looks OK.¡É

I can¡Çt wait to strip down my Targa Top and start the installation.

Arron

It appears as though you may have bought a factory second. The little stainless steel bracket shown in the last pic was made wrong. The slotted hole should be at the other end of the bracket to provide for a little ajustability in the mounting. It is really no big deal unless you need that ajustment factor to make it fit correctly. Follow all the directions carefully to get a good and leak free fit.

JMPRO,

Is the bracket mounted correctly with the hole drilled incorrect, or is the bracket upside down? If the bracket is mounted correctly I can elongate the whole with a dermal tool.

Do you have a link to your original install thread? I have the instructions that came with the top but I would be interested in more details. Particularly if it has images of the bracket.

I wonder if I can fit a headliner into this top during assembly.

Here is an image of a factory hard top headliner.

It looks as though you might be able to tuck the headliner material in around the perimeter as long as it's not too thick at the edges.
Velcro strips maybe, throughout, to eliminate any sagging away from the edges?

Arron, it appears that the brackets were bent wrong. The brackets are lazer cut including the holes and then bent to the correct shape. It looks like theses were bent in the wrong direction . The bigger round hole may have enough slack to provide for a little adjustment. The bigger round hole was to provide for a place for the glue to better lock the bracket in place. I would start the installation and then determine if you need more adjustment and then drimel out the holes.
I belive there is a install section on pelicanparts, you will have to search for it.
The headliner is very easy, just cut to fit and glue it down. I used very thin carpet on mine. If you use the vinyl with the little holes in it glue can squeeze through the holes and ruin your finished look.
Good luck with your installation.

I started the softtop to hardtop rebuild project.

This rebuild could easily be a one day job, about 4 hrs. +/-. But once I tore down the Targa top I feel victim to ¡ÈWhile I¡Çm at it I might as well¡Ä.¡É I figured that I should do a stellar job cleaning all of the parts, repainting the frame and finding just the right headliner. This would also be the best time to replace any seals on the Targa top. I have been taking pictures of every step.

When the project is complete I will post to this thread with a step by step write up.

Has anyone considered pulling a mode off of a factory hard top? It might be easer to use a China manufacture to build reproduction hardtops.

Just a thought.
