most desirable porsche model

hi.........

i was wondering, what is the most desirable 911 model to rebuild.....

and.....an attempt at humor:

One day a man was waking along the beach when he tripped over a lamp. He turned around and kicked the lamp out of anger. A few seconds later, a Genie popped out of the lamp, An angry Genie, because the man had kicked his lamp.

Reluctantly, the genie said, "Even though you kicked me, I shall still give you three wishes as your reward for releasing me. However, because of what you did, I will also give twice what you wish for to the person you hate the most. Your boss, I believe."

So the man agreed and made his first wish. "I want lots of money," he said. Instantly 50-million dollars appear in the man's bank account and 100-million appeared in his boss' account.

For his second wish, the man asked for a couple of sports cars. Instantly a Lamborgini and a Porsche appeared, but at the same time outside his boss' house appeared a Lamborgini, a Ferrarri, a Jaguar and a Porsche.

"This is your last wish, you should choose carefully," the genie reminded him, and the man replied, "I've always wanted to donate a kidney."

Nice joke. What are you trying to do with the car? Race it, drive it, long road trips, or flip it?

well, my first thought would be to flip it.

the second one, to race it.

and the third one, to drive it.

To flip obviously a long hood 65-73.5

Race 87-89 would be nice newer and durable

To drive I wouldn't drive anything but my long hood. Other ones just aren't as fun to me. I own a 2006 997 and it collects dust, my 1966 gets driven regularly. Infact I can't remember the last time I drove the 2006.

so i've heard around here but, if you flip, you can afford to put more into another one you can keep......

no, i really was just wondering what is really desirable in a porsche. never thought about the different uses. they are all applicable at some time in our lives though, aren't they...

a green, perfect '72 911S would be worth a whole lot

same for an RS would be more; even more for RS light wt.; even more for S-T or R; even more for the 1st R prototype made; even more for 500 - lather/rinse/repeat

I went with the 85 911 Turbo look - Icon shape and model with a reliable NA motor. Some say it's a Turbo Wana-bee I say it's a Super Sport 911, (that's what they call them on the other side of the pond)

Limited in numbers is the way to go if you want something that runs heads and keeps value at a decent level.

If your looking to flip, just buy low and sell high, many folks here arnt looking to retire from a 911 sale, so you can buy cheap. Also many hear have retirment money or just great job's and don't really blink at paying a little extra for the right car

If you're considering flipping , keep in mind that you make your money when you buy it, not when selling it (especially after restoration costs). Quite honestly, with the exception of some uber rare barn find, I don't think you can make money with a total restoration for a flip. This applies to cars as well as houses.

Which brings me to another truism about used cars...put money in them if you're planning to keep them. Otherwise sell them "as is" (within reason).

The punch line may be better by saying "a mild heart attack".

Fixing up an old 911 to flip is a fools playground. Read "The Gold Plated Porsche".

Actually you might try this one, tho' its not a 911...especially at the $8000 buy it now. Looks like you would only need to wax it and flip it for a tidy profit.

Maybe he meant to say 80 thousand dollars.
Too bad eBay is not like a grocery store. You find a mismarked item there and it's yours for the marked price. State law here. If I could drive over and flop 8K in the guy's hand and drive off saying that's what you advertised, people would be a bit more careful.

I'd actually keep that car.

Uhmmm... yeah.
If you're looking to flip a car for cash, why would it have to be a Porsche?
Unless you're planning on selling it at Barrett-Jackson, of course.
