Home Covered RS Door Panels - Part 2

Part 1 can be read here :-

Home Covered RS Door Panels

4. Finally completed and offered up to the original holes and everything re-assembled.

Whilst it is in no way a professional job, nor an exact RS copy, it is my own work and something that I shall improve on when I do the drivers door. All at a cost of $50.

The only snag is that the door doesn't align well, and I am unsure if it is the panel pushing on the door seal and thus part opening the door - the lock is engaged, so it might just be the door alignment.

Can someone post a closeup of their RS panel in the closed position, so I can see how the panel follows the door seal line - i.e. is it inside the seal and not pressing on it ?

Always learning, and glad to have finally done something constructive on the car - views always welcome on how this can be improved for others to follow.

Part 3 can be read here :-

Home Covered RS Door Panels - Part 3

looks good but im curious why you didnt use spray adhesive on the vinyl too. im not sure how well the tape would hold, especially if it ever got wet. clean look though.

The spray adhesive on the foam was the type you use to mount paper on to paper (kids school projects etc.), and was just to hold whilst turning over really.

I didn't use adhesive on the vinyl as I wanted to be able to lift, pull and redo as I needed to. Adhesive would not allow this rather amateur approach I used though.

I used heavy duty waterproof gaffer tape.
