Throttle Position Sensor on a Carrera
How can you get the Throttle Position on a Carrera?
I am planning on getting a data logger and would like to record Throttle Position. I think it only has a switch for WOT and Idle, but nothing inbetween. Is that correct? If so how could I go about hooking up a Throttle Position Sensor on a Carrera? Any recommendations? Thanks. -Scott |
Here is a link for a TPS on an SC. Tony Bitz did this for his EFI conversion. You could do something similar.

I *think* you can adapt a 944 or later model variable pot-style TPS on the Carrera throttle body, but only as an aftermarket add-on... it won't work with the OEM DME. You'd need a DME/ECU that understands 0%-100% throttle conditions, not just on/off.

String potentiometer?

Bosch 0 280 120 400 which I believe is off of a 944 turbo and has a potentiometer (POT) function as well as an integrated idle switch. This is what I purchased from Clewett Engineering to place on a 3.2 throttle body for my EFI conversion. It seems to be a good fit for the TB but will not interface with the carrera DME.

I used a '95 993 TPS, it fits the shaft perfectly and all I had to do was make an adapter plate to screw onto the side of the TB and bolt the tps to it. I have the standard ignition part numbers you need if you want. I think it cost around $80.
