Cool New Pelicaner

Picked up this 87 coupe, 103k about 4 months ago. It appears to be unmolested. No PPI (I know, I know). Changed shocks and struts (they were original). Repaired broken rear sway bar mount. So far so good. I love the car but I have a little problem thats really bugging me. There is an oil leak coming from between #1 cyl and the chain box, only leaks during high rpm say 4K and above, I guess I should say sprays at like 5k. I know this is probably for the engine forum but would appreciate any thoughts. Did a lot of searching and can't seem to find the same scenario. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a high pressure oil leak. The only thing around that location that I can think of is the high pressure cam oil line behind the distributor and on top of the left chain housing. There is a rubber component that could split and leak as well as multiple flare couplings that could be loose. I don't know if loss of the camtower/housing seal system would squirt like that but that would be a much bigger problem.

Get in there with some brake cleaner and clena it well, then rev it and watch....
