Want to replace stock SC dash with basketweave...

Ok, since the rest of my car lives in 1973 since the backdate, I'd like to replace the 1980 stock dash with basketweave material. Someone is selling "OEM" basketweave bulk material on ebay.

Has anyone done this? Is the basketweave covering foam or something, or directly adhered to the dash? What about the aluminum trim piece? Could I simply remove the vinyl/leather from my existing pieces and re-cover?

Any tips, comments, etc would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
-Brad

Here is a thread I started about this a little while ago:

Dash Facia Backdate? ?

Good luck, my SC project has come to a hault. So I haven't gotten around to finishing any of this.

1- find a pelican member that removed the original alloy trim , inc the glove box section and that small passenger side trapezoidal shaped one- Total of 4 pieces
2- contact me and i will send you enough basketweave to to the job
3- there will be enough differences with the dash hardware you may want to see if those are available from a member also: headlamp switch retaining nut, fog and defrost retaining nuts, early ign switch plastic screw on cover, early fresh air control assembly. On the glovebox, you will have to machine a slight bevel to leave clearance for the oe lock knob your car has
