ground strap on engine lid hinge?
I have been taking off all removable pieces to paint the engine compartment and i found a big broken braided ground strap on the bolt attaching the rear hood hinge to the body. My engine has been out of the car for over a year now and i dont remember seeing a strap there before. Does anybody know what this ground strap would be connected to? My car is a 73 911 with 2.4l mfi. Thanks Craig

My car has such a strap, braided and coated in black plastic with two eyelets on either end. I believe that one end attaches to the hinge where it is screwed to the car body, and the other end goes thru with one of the two bolts which hold the hinge to the engine lid. Mine is on the right (drivers) side of the car. Hope this helps.

It is a ground for the tail licence plate light.
