How many miles on a set of tires?
How many miles can I expect to get on a set of tires for a daily driver - street use only. I've only had my 911 for six months and already see a noticeable decrease in tread. Tires now have about 10,000 miles on them and the rears are wearing faster than the fronts. Running Dunlop SP 8000's now and planning on going with Goodyear F1's next.
Thanks!

Mark,
Depending on many things (suspension settings, driving style, tires, etc) you can expect to replace the rears twice as often as the fronts. I typically get around 20k out of the rears and have 40k on the fronts and they need to be replaced. I did the rears last fall. Some guys claim as low as 10k miles for the rears.

I go through rears betwen 8-10K miles, and get about 1.5 times that out of the front
But I drive real hard

Depending on how hard to run it I have seen anywhere from 70,000 plus to just about 5,000 on 997's where the drivers hit them hard.

I get about the same as Todd, rears: 8-10K miles fronts maybe 15K, but I'm pretty hard on them too.

I find it depends a lot on the tires. The Kuhmos I've used the last few years get me 15k rear and 30k front. My previous tires (RE71s) lasted only half as long.

With the horrible road conditions in my area, I've never had a tire wear out, thay always get damaged and have to be replaced because of damage due to road hazards, especially the Dunlop Sport 9000's. I'm getting good use from my Bridgestone RE950's now, but I've only got 3k miles on them so far...

I only got about 7k on my rear SP 8000's when I replaced them last year with BFG GForce Sports, which seem to be wearing better with about 4k miles on them now. The front SP 8000's still look fine with around 11k on them.

The rubber you run makes a huge diference but severely at the expense of handling capability.
I still use S02s religiously
