HELP PLSE - what is this and do I need it?

this thing is threaded into the breather housing, what is it and do I need it with webers? any help much appreciated. thanks, Don.

I have that on my 69 too.
I believe it is the temperature sensing assy.
There are 4 wires going to it.
I left mine off when I rewired that area...did not need the automatic enrichment control they affect.
