Clutch Question

I just had my clutch replaced and I still get a very bad smell when I'm sitting on a steep incline up and let off the clutch to go.I had the smell before and my clutch was shot,I really don't like the smell, especially for what I paid for the new clutch.Should I get ANY bad smell from my clutch at any time???
Thanks.

Did the clutch job include parts like the release bearing (throwout bearing), guide tube, horseshoe helper spring?

Perhaps the #1 suspicion when a new cluch is slipping too much is just poor adjustment.

Chuck,

It sounds like there is zero freeplay. Do you have the proper 19 mm or 0.75" of freeplay before resistance/pressure is encountered when pushing in the clutch pedal?

Just a quick follow-up,
I went to my mechanic this morning and
had him look at my new clutch to see about
the "slipping" he drove my car and said
the adjustment was right on the money.
He then asked what were the conditions that
caused me to smell the smell,I told him that I was on an uphill incline waiting to get into traffic and was RIDING the clutch.
Riding the clutch is a BAD thing! He mentioned
that brakes are cheaper to replace than clutches. He gave me some instruction on proper use of the clutch on an up-hill stop.I admit I was just a tad bit embarrassed
but I did learn something!
