73.5T not starting....again

Just got it back from the body after replacing the front suspension pan, all psyched up to get it on the road for the first time, and guess what? It is not starting. Normally I would hear the right side of the car rumble (I assume it is the fuel pump), not this time. Checked the batteries (both new by the way) and fuse box, they seem to be fine. Just had the whole ignition system replaced 3 months ago. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Peter

I think your fuel pump is shot. If you turn the key and assuming that the key works, as in it cranks the engine over still, then its the fuel pump. The rumble is the pump and without it you wouldn't even get a minute of run time.

Before replacing the pump check the electrical connections on the pump. Possible they are just corroded and need some cleaning up. A little "spritz" of WD-40 might be all it takes to bring it back to life. Otherwise wires and connectors close to the pump could also start to fall into pieces and might need some refreshing. And while you are working around the pump it is a good idea to check the fuel lines and hoses.

My 1973.5T fuel pump is in the drivers side rear wheel well as all of them, I believe. Whats going on to the rear right? First turn the key on (no start) to hear the CD and fuel pump humming). Any real weird noise and you have to check further. Both will make high pitched noises. If a 2.4 CIS car does not start it can be a list of items. Like with any car you have to check the elctricals. My car dropped dead suddenly last month because the coil failed. No warning signs!! I checked for spark and was able to trace to the coil. If your cranking and the fuel pump is working your going to smell gas from the injectors so that in itself is a good sign. If its not turningover then in all probability its an electrical issue. Have points? Check the gap. Then go from their. Go to the technical articles and pull up the "troubleshooting guide" for CIS. THat might give you further help.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the input. Turns out to be a loose connection.
