Question Distributor recurving?

I am rebuilding my engine 2.7....

specs:
Elgin MOD S cams
JE 9:8 pistons
PMO carbs 40

What should I recurve my distributor to = just S specs...?

Your engine will be better than and S, and an S ign. curve, while close enough, may not take advantage of what you have. In some cases, the curve could provide more advance than needed at some load/rpm point and push the engine into detonation territory. I'd suggest, after a break-in period, run the car on a chassis dyno and plot an optimum advance curve for your engine, then ask any of the aforementioned to curve your distributor taking into account the timing curve from the dyno run(s). The final curve should be more conservative than optimum to take into account different ambient temps, prevailing fuel octane, altitude, etc. in everyday driving. It may be that the S advance curve is close enough.... or not.

talked to Henry at Supertech and he mentioned it is a special spec curve, not just an S spec...

I may just send it off to him....
