204$ for a 911 VDO clock?! No way...
I'm running out of projects!
I bought a VDO 2" clock for 64$ and am now in the process of removing the engine to put it in my VDO clock. Aside from the face and the electric connections, it's essentially the same. Coulda sent it to be fixed or something, but since I'm running out of projects now, I don't have anything to look forward to when I get home from work! Interior lights: rewired, replaced with new fixtures (even put a Rice Burner Style Blue bulb in the glove compartment light) Windshield washers: replaced the pump, fixed all the leaks, first time working since I bought the car. New trunk struts! Damnit, this was the most annoying part of the process...that damn front hood smacked my head at least 50 times over the last couple of years... The last of the projects will be to do the interior. This will be fun. After that, a Carrera tail (no, not a whale tail, you only do that with TURBO flares, or it looks like a space ship). Then... Then... AHHHHHHHHHHhh I'm going to have to buy a junked out 356 or 914/6 to work on! What else could I do (some things NOT on Warren and Superman's list of "Things that take us 2 hours but will take you all day Saturday and half of Sunday, but SHHHHH") ------------------ Kurt B 1984 911 Carrera Cabriolet 75 914 1.8 [This message has been edited by Kurt B (edited 12-19-2000).] |

I know these are two upgrades that Steve McQueen wouldn't get excited about, but I really like the armrest I added (from Auto Chic), and the seven-second delay circuit on the interior lights (from Performance).
Hardly a drive goes by without my appreciating these two minor 'gilding the lily' projects. You'll enjoy doing the interior, by the way. It doesn't destroy your wallet too quickly, and makes a big, noticeable difference every time you sit in the car. ------------------ Jack Olsen 1973 911 T (3.6) sunroof coupe |

Kurt, if you're really hard up for projects, come over to my place. Drop my engine, and disassemble my engine. Replace the 9mm connecting rod bolts with 10mm ones. Reassemble and put the engine back in my car. I'm concerned about over-revving.

Those trunk struts are a *****. Well at least the drivers side is (unless of course you are an alien with double jointed 11 inch finger!).

Hey Kurt!!!
Try the four-relay upgrade to your Headlamp Circuits!!! Shouldn't be more than $30 in parts, and long-term reliability regarding your control 'stalk' and light switch is all you will be getting! Or, maybe you enjoyed the smell of toasted PVC, huh??? ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

Well, the clock is all together, it might be time to get on that relay. On the driver's trunk strut---I couldn't do it! I gave up and had my g/f do it for me.
And old_skul, yeah, I'll swing by and rebuild your engine for ya no prob! You want me to build a turbo while I'm at it? ![]() ------------------ Kurt B 1984 911 Carrera Cabriolet 75 914 1.8 |

A friend gave me a big box of OLD Panoramas. In them is an ad for a digital clock that fits in the old clock hole. Has about five lines, for elapsed time and otehr stuff. I think it also served as a an intertia hp estimator.
I dunno about your sad circumstances, Kurt. Pretty depressing. My driver's seat is showing a little wear. If I send you the frame and a big piece of burgundy leather...... Oh, and I heard the comment about repair time estimates. Trust me when I tell you that there are few BBS members who are slower in the garage than I. Projects take me FOREVER. Everybody's faster than me. ------------------ '83 SC |
