conversion to 964 twin plug
Ok so I just bought a 993/964 twin plug distributer and need to know, I laymen terms what options I have for hook up. I followed a previous thread where Patton was working on using a 993 splitter, but frankly the "how to" was over my head. I can follow directions, you know, tab A, slot B that sort of thing, but schematics hurt my head. I also understand that I can use a MSD 6al and two coils I assume without the splitter, so Patton if your out there did you come up with a "kit" or do you have a step by step, pics would be helpful!

I can't believe know one has an answer for me! Come on guys.

Have you e-mailed or PM him (Patton)? Start there...

It might help if you told what year car and engine you are dealing with??? What is the current ignition system?

Sorry it's a 3.2 with motronics. Right now I'm collecting for an eventual rebuild. So here's the list of ideas/parts I either have or need; 993 distributer [just purchased], euro spec or 3.4 pistons, hotter cams[dc 20, or dc21],993 heat exchangers [have], Steve Wong chip [have but will need to be reburned], and one of Ben's mufflers.

You need the following:
1. the inards from an SC distributor 2. a Bridgeport milling machine with setup blocks 3. 6 more spark plugs |
Do you need an SC distributor internals for a Motronic setup? I was under the impression that since advance is controlled by the ECU that the 964 dizzy required no modification. What I know you DO need is a way to split the signal, a second coil, and (I think) the distributor drive gear from a 3.6.

Search "patton" and "twin plug" the answers are in that thread. He developed an inexpensive way to split the signal and run a 964/993 distributor with your 3.2 motronic.
