Engine type number?

Got a quick one that anyone out there may be able to help mem with:
I'm currently in the process of buying a new engine, and came across what is supposed to be a -83 SC-engine yesterday. Since it is sitting in an older car, I need to know the engine type number to verify that it IS an -83 engine, and not -say- one of the earlier SC-engines.
I know of THREE different type numbers that are supposed to be for these engines; 930/04, 930/07 and 930/16.
Fist of all -are these the correct type numbers, and which one of these is the -83 engine? (It's a euro spec engine, if that matters)
Thanks for any help I may get!

Can you get the whole engine number? That would make identification easier. Right now I can't remember. I'll check when I get home though.

04=78/79, 3.0
07=80, 3.0
16=81-83, 3.0
BTW, theses are ALL USA spec engines...

A euro spec is a 930/10

You should really get the engine number that is stamped on the actual engine you are purchasing. That way, you know exactly what you are buying. Euro-spec does make a difference.
930/04=78/79, 3.0 8.5:1 180 hp
930/07=80, 3.0 9.3:1 180 hp
930/16=81-83, 3.0 9.3:1 180hp
As mikez said, the euro spec engine is
930/10 81-83 3.0 RoW 9.8:1 204hp

The engine SERIAL number is on the vertical fin near the oil sender. The engine TYPE # is on the horizontal surface behind it.

Bo!

My Porsche family tree says:

1983 911SC Engine S/N 64D0001-64D5651

The engine number should fall within this range.

Great!
I'll go check out the engine, to see if the numbers match with the year.

Thanks all!

930/03 is the euro 180 hp 1978/79 motor.
930/07 is the euro 188 hp 1980 motor.
930/10 is the euro 204 hp 1981/83 motor.

The year code is 8 for 78, 9 for 79, A for 80 and B for 81 etc.
