back dating a 993 engine to pre OBD-II

Anybody have an idea of what's involved in back dating a 1996 993 engine from Varioram to Pre-OBDII F.I.?

Cost?

Just looking quickly at the wiring diagrams it appears that if you replaced the DME and wireing harness back to the engine w/ '95 993 55 pin versions, and left all but one O2 unhooked, and drove the Vram off the resonance flap pin, It might work
