Clutch Questions?
Been looking for a carrera and have found a couple of candidates. The owner states his 87 has an upgraded turbo clutch. Being new to porsches I am not clear on this. Is this considered the update I am always hearing about and is this pretty much what they replace original clutches with, or is this actually an upgraded clutch? Also how is this clutch better than stock?
Thanks, Michael |

It may be a HD Sachs 'Power Kit' or some other HD clutch, but it isn't a 930 Turbo clutch!!! All 930 Turbo's use a 240 mm clutch and all 915's use a 225 mm clutch so, the owner is wrong or using the descriptor 'Turbo' improperly, instead of 'Heavy Duty' ... you may want to ask for clarification of what he really means!

That is true of the 915's. The 87 911's however had the first G50 transaxles and need some upgrades to the shifting fork and the clutch. A kit is available from Pelican for resolution and there are a number of strands delineating these problems on this site. Mrdi |

Do a search under G50 clutch on this BB and you'll find some good info.
