changing rear trailing arms

going from an earlier 77 930 arm and brake set up to an 80 arm set up with the newer brake calipers question when removing these arms will the spring plates bounce in a dangerous position possibly severing a finger or this can be done with no effect on the spring plates? any info appreciated thks

If you have the weight off the wheels you will be fine. If you unbolt the springplate from the arm while they carry no weight they will not be "sprung" or release any tension.
