Where does this plug in?
I found a disconnected connector near my warm up regulator (WUR). It originates from the wiring harness right on top of the engine case and is about 12"+ long. I realize that the female end must be within that same span, but for the life of me can't find it. Anyone recognize this pair of wires/ connector?

I can't find an open female connector on the warm up regulator. This pair of wires splits out of the wiring harness that is on the engine case directly below the left rear intake runner. Three other pairs of wires split out at the same place. One set goes to the heater fan, one goes to the warm up regulator, one goes to the coil, and this pair of one red wire/white stripe and one tan (brown?) wire with this male two prong connector goes nowhere?
I looked at the wiring diagram in Haynes (fwiw) and see that it has a brown and red/wt wire running to the WUR. If someone with an SC could just follow this wire red/white - tan wire pair and tell me where it goes I would greatly appreciate it. Hank

That is the connector for the thermotime valve. It is a small, black [2" dia] device with vacuum lines going in and out of it and of course the electrical connector that is in your hand. It lives behind the WUR towards the back of the engine under the heater blower. Its function is to block vacuum from reaching the WUR for about 10/15 sec when you first start the car and allow a rich mix. After that warm up time the valve opens and the vacuum is applied to the WUR leaning it a snot.

Ron,
Thanks for your advice, but I cant find anything that looks like you describe. I looked in the Pelican Parts catalog for a thermotime valve and there was not one listed. I have removed the heater hoses and the heater blower and still cant find a female connector for that rd/wht - brown wire pair. Given its proximity to the WUR, I'm thinking this disconnecte wire may be the source of my problems.... Anybody have a picture of where this rd/wht and brown wire pair plugs in on a 1981 911 SC? I looked in the Pelican Technical Section at the parts diagrams and saw there are two different diagrams for 911SCs. I'm guessing that the CIS is different between years. One diagram had a vacuum line running out the back of the WUR into a diaphram looking device, the other diagram did not show this device. I can not find any vacuum lines running out of my WUR into a diaphram type device.

No thermovalve on the 81 SC's although the wiring is present. That is a mighty clean looking engine you have there!

Thank you for that clarification! I have another post in which I am searching for the cause of a high idle while cold and while digging around I found this disconnecte wire pair. I was hoping this was the source of my problem, but alas, back to the drawing board. So all '81s have this wire pair just dangling from the wiring harness laying on top of the engine!? Back to test the AAR. Hank.
