Willow Springs DE

(Mods, I hope this is OK with you guys because it seems very few people actually check out the racing and Autocross forum and therefore seem to miss the anouncements)

I thought you SoCal guys might want to know about this and I'm trying to get this out to the widest possible audience so we don't get another cancellation due to lack of interest.

Open Track Racing (OTR) is hosting an open track day on Wednesday, March 14th. For those of you who haven't done one of these events before, you'll have the time of your life. Trust me on this. For those of you who have, but didn't know about this one, now you do.

Here's a link to a discussion about the last one they held:
OTR - Jan 17th

Here's their website:
http://www.opentrackracing.com/

I'm still sidelined. No jobs = no $$$ to fix oil leaks and no new plug wires

Wish I could go. I need the distraction.

Dave

Why not bring the Corolla? That'd be...interesting (and probably fun).

I'd roll that thing going into turn 1, coming out of the pits. Brakes overheat in no time, suspension is a joke, not to mention the side wall flex!

Man I wish I could make this event. Kailo and his crew do a great job and you get to have Jack Olsen drive your car and sign the sun visor!

Dave, something will break for you soon I am sure.

Scott - Be carefull out there with that new Cayman.

The last time I was at Willow Springs for a NASA event there was a guy flogging a Corolla around the track. He did remove the hubcaps for track duty in case the brute force of raw horsepower spun them off.

Bummer, I'm in the middle of a 3 day trip on March 14th. Well that and I don't know if my T will be ready for track duty....

Trip swap or drop?

Dave, it would be fun to watch though. Forgiving little cars aren't they? I'd think you could literally go flat to the floor all the way around, eh?

Thx for posting Scott
This might be a good alternative for anyone who didn't make the deadline (speedventures and POC) for California Speedway on 3/24 3/25. I heard that it's sold out...so if you got the need for speed ...get thee to Willow.

I've had it up to 115 MPH. You can watch the gas needle drop! I flog it up on Mulholland! BTW, it's the "CE" edition or "Cheap Edition"

Smile Willow Springs

Just registered!!! I can't wait i REALLY need the stress relief right now.
OTR runs a great event, I've been to 4 or 5 now and always a good time. I'm pretty slow and never feel pushed to go faster than i'm comfortable with. If you make it you will have a blast.

Me and my 19 year old son at the last event!!!

I need to look into a trade, someone would have a coronary if I tried to drop it. Hopefully it'll work out....I need to be checking the schedule at Willow before bids close each month.

If I can get the time off Dave I could bring my wife's Saturn if you want some competition in the commutermobile class. I'm puttin' down at least 85hp to the right front wheel.

LOL. I am at 125 HP/125 ft.-lbs. I am not sure how my M+S tires would handle things at speed though.

I signed up! This will be my first real track day(If you don't count Richard Petty Driving Experience). I need to find a helmet now...

I can't wait!

Great! Glad to see another Pelican make this event. I'll look for you. If you see a red 996 parked next to an off-white Carrera (PatrickB's), pull up and park with us.

Too bad my Cab won't pass muster Anyone know if you can really rent one of those bada$$ Mustangs from Hertz and flog it on a track without getting busted? That would be fun

I've seen at least four of the Hertz mustangs there, and drove a student in one of them. I have to admit, they're pretty capable cars. I haven't heard about anyone getting busted, yet.
