Flasher alternative

Hi,

I have an 84 3.2 and I have a flasher problem. The one in the car is a TBB44 4DB003425-02 with 4 pins which is astronomically expensive compared to other flashers. The parts manual says an 84 flasher part number Bosch 914 618 303 11 which shows only 3 pins and I can get from Autodoc.uk for £17.40

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/bosch/1154926

Which is correct? Why do I have a 4 pin when the Porsche part number shows 3 pins?

Thank you.

Update

Fitted the flasher specified in the Porsche parts manual. The 3 pin 914 618 303 11. It worked but the indicators on the dash showed that both indicators were flashing (emergency mode) when only either the right or left were flashing. Still do not understand why I have a 4 pin flasher against the standard 3 pin.

Yea two of my 911s and both my neighbors 911s have the same funky turn signal dash behavior where both flash even though on the outside they are working correctly.

because the flasher you got only works for a common dash flasher light ( like an old bug for example ).
You need one that supports two independent flasher circuits for left and right in the dash.

the pelican one worked for me ( wherele i think)

google this:

Wehrle Turn Signal/Flasher Relay; 4 Prong

see if it is compatible with yours. on my SC it worked great.

When you use a 3 prong flasher, you need to disconnect the blue or blue/white wire (which comes from the prong 4 of the relay) from the indicators, and run a wire for both indicators to ground. Leave the black/green and black/white wire.

Cheers

EP26 is a drop in replacement for the 911 flasher. EP26 is also LED-compatible if you decide to use LED turnsignals. They can be found at many FLAPS or online auto parts sites.

2 caveats with the EP26:

1) The EP26 out of the box does not have an internal connection for the C2 pin. the C2 pin goes to the common connection of the turnsignal indicators in the tachometer. It is very easy to ground C2 inside the flasher. I resell EP26 with C2 grounded.

2) EP26 will not hyperflash (2x normal flash rate) or flash both turnsignal indicators when an external bulb is burned out.

Get the original... it will really annoy you if the dash lights don't work. My relay was defective causing dash lights not to work....replaced with original and all ok.
