I could look this up if I searched, but Porsche racing overview...

The highlights of Porsche racing are...?
Which kinds of racing does Porsche perform best in, and I heard they quit racing, is this true?
Which P-cars have the strongest racing heritage? Just a few short answers or a link might be in order, I'm curious.

Well I don't know all the history on Porsche racing, but I do know there will be a factory effort again soon. Hopefully LeMans!

Also, Porsche 911's were the first cars used in the International Race of Champions (IROC) series.

Keep in mind there are two major factions to the history of racing Porsches. There are the factory sponsored and the independants. In many cases the independants seem to get more recognition.

Porsche has a very rich racing history and I am no expert, but it seems they saw their heyday in the 60's and 70's. It seems that sportcars and prototype racing was their strong point. There was a bit of a comeback in the 90's.

Aw they clean up when they show up. They're the guys that everyone hopes will not show.

As a younger person, I recall the dominance of the 917. A brute.

Porsche has not quit racing. there are factory-sponsored teams racing right now:

if you have the cash, you can order one from your dealership right now.

the most successfull Porsche race car ever was the 962C. they won more overall victories with that in international racing than any other car. not to mention the 962C is said to be the BEST race car design EVER.
