Question To Clear Bra or Not?

My 1992 Turbo only has 35,000 miles on it. The paint is in great shape everywhere with a frew minimal rock chips on the front. Since I do drive it to work for about 50 miles on the interstate, and see lots of small rocks etc, I am thinking of a clear bar. There is a guy in town that does a great job.

My question is do you think it would look bad installing the clear bra over paint that already has a couple of rock chips or should I just not worry about it and later on down the road if I want it perfect just get the bumper and hood resprayed?

thanks,

Bill

I would not do it. I do not think that even a good job looks good.

I wear my rock chips like a badge.

I wouldn't bother until after you decided to have the front end repainted unless what you have is absolutely minimal.

After my car was repainted, I had in Stongarded, and only 5% of people seeing the car even realize it was done. It has kept the rock chips down, however hard impacts by good size rocks will perforate it and leave a mark on the paint. The stuff is good, but not invincible.

Depending on the chips, those can be 'touched-up.' I had my front painted, then I started to have at least 5 chips. I used my touch up paint, and installed the clear 3m tape. You would not be able to see the difference.

I just 3M'd my car and the stuff is great. I don't even notice it and I'm as anal as one can get. Bought a roll for $50 that should last me a long time. Pretty darn easy to install on our cars.

If you are planning on repainting soon that would be the best time to put the clear bra on. As others have said hard enough impacts will rip the bra and allow dirt to get under which will not wash out. I have a couple on mine but I'd rather have those than the rock chips that would have been there had the clear bra not been on the car.
