StoneGuard in Aeresol Can or BrushOn?

I have removed most of the undercoating under my wheel wells using a heat gun and scraper. Not a bad job, but some really really sticky white stuff is impossible to remove. I plan to POR-15 all exposed metal with a couple of coats.

Now, I am interested in putting stoneguard over the POR-15. While a dimpled original look would be nice, I don't really want to buy an aircompressor and spray gun - and do all the clean up of the spray gun. I just want to protect my car from chips and rust.

It seems that my options are:

1. More POR -15 layers, and skip the stoneguard all together.

2. Brush on Wurth SKS Stoneguard over the POR-15.

3. Use an aeresol can of some quality Stoneguard over the POR-15.

Any opinions on this? Is there such a thing as option 3?

They make a spray on truck bed liner. Sold at auto parts stores. May be just what you are looking for.

I'd go for the Wurth aerosol cans. This would give you the correct finish, and could be removed in the future if the car needed further restoration.

I am restoring a 914 and I recently used the spray can of truck bedliner in the rear trunk. This stuff is relatively cheap ( $7.00 can ) and covers well and leaves a nice uniform finish and appears to be tough. I may use this on all the wheelwells also.

Thanks for the suggestions. I looked at the various products on the Net. The truck bedliner stuff looks hard as nails -- but, for what it is "Wurth" I decided to go OEM and bought 5 cans of Wurth Spray Can Stoneguard for $75. This should do my whole car, and I don't have to do any clean up of a spray gun or buy an air compressor. Just throw the can away when I am done. If anyone else is interested, you can get it here . . .

Check out this site - he has some interesting ways of getting that factory style underbody finish that I'm going to try myself...seems to work well on his project.
