Ignition Wires - 72 T - which brand?

What brand wires is everyone running? Just curious, might be time for an up grade in my 72 T.

Actually I use the Beru wires bought from Pelican (part # 911-609-061-00-M47). Fit better than the Bosch I tried and much cheaper than the correct but unnecessary shielded wires. Perfect fit, car runs fine.

Rick,

I agree with Jerry. With normal CDI the Beru and most others are just fine. The critical issue is having all the high voltage components relatively new. That includes cap, rotor, wires and plug connectors.

If you have “high power” CDI (MSD), even when everything is new, the limiting factor can be the small diameter cap used ’65-’77.

Best,
Grady

Is it worth upgrading to the Clewett Engineering wires from Pelican, not much more in price. I have read some good things about them.

I got a set of 8 mallory pro 8mm black wires, cut it myself and installed the ends, it was much cheaper.

I believe Ipaid less that $40 for the box of 8 wires, and you get 2 extra wires.

haven't thought of that, where did you get new ends? They look good and I like to save a few bucks as long as it isn't a total PITA...

The mallory came with new ends, I took apart the original end covers and installed them over the new ends...

the first 2 make take longer once your familiar with it, the rest did not take that long.

use some liquid soap this way you can easily insert the ends...

the box of 8 mallory 8mm wires that I bought last year was about $36.00, It could be a bit more now....

hope this helps

A '72 doesn't have any electronics to necessitate the flimsier carbon core wires. Find some bulk solid core wires and build a set yourself. The Beru spark plug connectors supply all the RFI suppression you need.
