Check out what I did to my front bumper trim.

I've never really cared for the "T" trim. Been keeping my eyes peeled for "S" but it's kind of hard to come by and it's $$$. I was in an auto paint store the other day for some misc hardware and the pin stripe rack caught my attention. I went with 1 inch black pin stripe for 50 cents a foot. Bought 10 feet and last night pulled the bumper, removed the trim, cleaned residual goop off with "Goo-b-gone", then applied the trim.
I think it turned out pretty good. I just eye-balled the application.

looks good its alot cleaner looking. how did it look with nothing? of corse then youd have holes there

Jays72T 03-19-2007 03:00 PM

Looks great, nice job.

FWIW, I like the look of the "T" trim, looks lighter then the larger "S" trim.

Gene Wilkes 03-19-2007 03:02 PM

Looks much cleaner w/the tape! Great idea!

dezzmo 03-19-2007 03:03 PM

That does look clean and purposeful Don!

As porsche930dude mentioned, how did you eliminate the holes?

trj911 03-19-2007 03:23 PM

That gives it a simple clean look. I like it!

masraum 03-19-2007 03:27 PM

Good job.

I'm not normally a fan of chrome or shiny bits, and I'm a huge fan of the minimalist style 911s. I think I prefer the original trim or even just no trim at all. I suppose with no trim at all it would have been obvious that something had been removed.

Shaun @ Tru6 03-19-2007 03:31 PM

looks great! more pics please.

RoninLB 03-19-2007 03:35 PM

"Sports Purpose" time !
nice look- do the back soon?

rdk409 03-19-2007 04:20 PM

Looks clean. I like it too.

The down side of it though would be worse damage in a small fender bender. Not that the original trim would prevent much more though...

Hell Yes Don Davis, Hell Yes!!!

Are you going to run PIR this Saturday?

LeeH 03-19-2007 05:33 PM

Very cool! That will look a lot more menacing in people's rear view mirrors right before you pass them. Do you have a more distant shot? Did you do the rear?

Great minds...

I was outside doing 1 rear side. I only had enough to do 1 of the rears.

Before (ignore the "tail light train wreck", that's a whole 'nother story :p )

During, I didn't do anything with the holes. That would ADD weight!

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174356459.jpg

After, tomorrow I'll go by and pick up a piece for the left side.

That's the plan! Post track brew at yer casa??

Porsche 03-19-2007 06:16 PM

I like it. :) Very nice.

CurtEgerer 03-19-2007 06:23 PM

Hey Don - that looks really nice. Do the holes show thru the tape at all if the light hits it just right or no?

haycait911 03-19-2007 07:17 PM

I found this stuff at the auto supply, think it was called wheel opening trim. self adhesive chromed plastic half-round. I never liked the factory bumper trim, too 'heavy'. this is what I did. Don.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174360523.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174360548.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174360573.jpg

"That would ADD weight!" - Now that's what I'm talkin about!

"Post track brew at yer casa??" - Absolutely.

Now get rid of those reflectors like haycait911 did. You don't want that extra weight making your car tail happy at PIR.

See you Saturday. I'll be cooking Brats and Kraut.

I agree, now the reflectors look out of place. Remove then and keep going with your pin-stripping and it will look smooth and clean...
