interesting project, good luck

got a fair bit of toe on that right rear :)

eimkeith 03-22-2007 10:04 AM

let's see the pics of the rear fenders when you get them! I salivate about cutting up a 993 to do a backdate!

(but why stop at 964?)

Dutchie 03-22-2007 10:19 AM

yeah why no 73RSR ? but to see a 993 turned into a 964 is very cool also ! please keep us updated or is it backdated ;)

Cheers,

DV 993tt 03-22-2007 05:11 PM

I'll post pictures of the back side as soon as I get them. The red 930 you see in the background of the first photo is the bases of my RSR conversion. I have not posted about that project because it's been done so many times on this forum. Anyways that's why the 993 is being backdated to RS3.8 and not RSR.

Porsche 03-22-2007 08:39 PM

Wow! :) Amazing. I agree with the other posters - why not backdate to longhood? :)

DV 993tt 03-22-2007 08:56 PM

I'm not backdating 993 to longhood RSR because I'm backdating my red 930 to RSR look.

Facey 03-23-2007 12:38 AM

i think you should post about both projects...they sound amazing to me....

i personnaly am not in love with the look of the 964, however to each his own, especially when you building a rsr which i am all for :P

how about some build plans??? engine? tranny? wheels? paint?

cheers

DV 993tt 03-23-2007 05:16 AM

Facey

The 993 is a '97 Vram Tiptronic. It is mechanically stock for now. I'll begin to modify it after it gets back on the road for while. I'll start another thread for the 930 RSR backdate.

thechiller 04-20-2007 11:32 AM

wow

interesting, is there a big difference on the rear end of the 993 incomparison with 964 ?

Very cool project...

There is a huge difference in the back between the 993 and 964. Like the front, the back of the 993 is much higher than the 964. In addition to the difference in height, the 993 is also a bit wider so the metal work is just as complicated.

I am missing some pictures of the bodywork in the back. I have the above pictures and the finished product. I'll try to find more pictures of the back bodywork before I post photos of the result.

eimkeith 04-22-2007 04:00 AM

you're going to need to remove the total rear fender, are you not? - all the way to the door, and up to the quarter glass?

DV 993tt 04-22-2007 06:46 AM

eimkeith

No. Actually, the total rear fender does not need to be removed. I replaced the rear part of the quarter panel with one from a 964 and installed new turbo flares. I'll post pictures as soon as I get them from my body guy.

bigchillcar 04-22-2007 07:38 AM

lol...yeah, i always say and hear it said that our 964's are the 'new middies'. :D very cool project. you have my blessing. :)

cak 04-22-2007 10:35 AM

This is great! To my eye, the 911 profile needs to have upright headlight buckets...

DV 993tt 04-26-2007 05:45 PM

Here is a couple pictures of the finished quarter panel.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177638277.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177638308.jpg
