SC distributor to coil wire is shorting out

On my 82 SC I just discovered that the wire from the distributor to the coil is damaged (photos below). If the metal braid from one of the plug wires gets close it arcs across. Is there any thing "special" about this wire? Can I make a new one myself?
I pulled gently on the end going in to the distributor, the boot didn't budge. So how to get this appart? Thanks in advance

Jay

Don't worry about that razor blade..... I'm not desperate.... yet.

Take your choice-- tape the damaged area, or go to Auto Zone or the like and pick up a new coil wire. I myself wouldn't go through the trouble of making one.

Or you could buy a set of Magnacore wires and change everything out... That is what I did when I found my coil wire virtually cut in half... I truly have no idea how the car drove! I was just mucking about one day and there it was, sheared in half...
