Best Alpine stereo fit/look for porsche dash???

Sorry to bore some of you with a stereo opinion question. I am just looking for some options for a new head unit in my 83 cab. I have heard a lot of recommendations for Alpine for their sound quality. What I would like is something that looks stock and still has a better sound. It does not have to be a show stereo system, just sound more decent with the top down. Again, really looking for saomething that fits in nicely with the look and shape of the dash/opening. I would prefer a cassette player that also has a CD changer controller function. Older units are OK as long as I could find another one that works. I had an old pioneer that woulkd be perfect, but sold it years ago. I also want one that has amber display color. in-dash cd player would be 2nd choice.

Pics would be nice as well.

Thanks.

I just removed a good, working Alpine and 6 disc CD changer that mounts in the trunk. It's at my stereo guys shop.

samladd57@yahoo.com send him an email ahd he can take some pics. I also have another cartridge for fast change on the CD unit.

I went with a newer Pioneer with IPOD and hands free bluetooth for my cell phone.

You can still get the 9835 on Ebay. It has the excellent black and white display and is about as subtle as Alpine gets. The 9835 does have a bit of a cult following, so prices on used ones in excellent condition can be high.

Mmmmmm, yeah. Looks like it. He has an issue and it keeps haunting him. The local DA is a bit of a stickler for "rules".....they can't convict Michael Jackson but they will screw someone for not getting a change of address in to the probation office ontime.

At least that's the story I'm getting.....he's a nice guy, but lives in a garage apartment next to his Momz house. My cutter and laptop are there and he has the "key" to the software. I have some stock left but my custom stuff is down for the count.

You would think a guy in his 40s would be a bit more....responsible. At least in the County facility he's clean and sober. LAst time he went up, I used one of his assistants....worked out OK....then he moved to Florida.....

End of Thread Hijack.

Unfortunately the newer Alpines have red backlighting. I just got one for my Tahoe. I have the exact same model, but last years for the 911 and the backlighting in the same color as the dash. I will get the number off it for you.

No tape deck though.

I recently purchased a Nakamichi CD-400, based on its looks and good recommendations here. I haven’t had time to install it yet, but it should look at home in my 85’s dash. It has amber lighting, switchable to green. It’s the project for the weekend.

Its probrobly not for you but mine is a jvc chamelion its an older model. I love it because its very trick. When its off its just a flat balck panel and when its on the knobs and things fold out and it lights up and everything. Iv never seen anythng like it since i got it probrobly 6 years ago. It doesnt support i pod or even mp3 format discs but ya know.. just thought you might like to know its out there. plus it fits perfect in the 911 dash

i prefer loud stereo and loud exhaust windows down. That way you can hear the exhaust tone but all the creaks and rattles are drowned out by the stereo
