Is your car your daily driver?

Do you use your Porsche as your daily driver? If so:

What year is it?
Is it a Cab, Coupe, or Targa?
What motor does it have?
What Trans does it have?
How many miles does it have?
How long have you used it as your daily driver?

Thanks,
-Shawn

Yes.

What year is it? 1978-6 (originally an Euro SC Targa, now a '86ish Cab Turbo Look)

Is it a Cab, Coupe, or Targa? Cab

What motor does it have? 3.2L

What Trans does it have? 915 (Mag case, I think its a S model)

How many miles does it have? 65836 at the moment, I put about 3.5 on it a year.

I have been using my 77s targa converted to cab as a daily driver for the last 8 months while waiting on an LS-2 engine transplant in a small truck (Colorado) I own. It has taken on all of the flooding, freezing, sun-baking, traffic, etc. that Houston has to offer. It currently has 172,000 miles on it, 12,000 of those put on it in the last 8 months. I was trying to sell the car before I put my truck in the shop, but, since it has performed so flawlessly in the last 8 months I have decided I will just keep it and enjoy it. The car has the infamous 2.7 (all recommended updates including: 11 blade fan, carrera tensioners, pop-off, etc.) mated to a 915 tranny (rebuilt in October 2005).

I drive my 87 coupe 2 to 3 days a week rain or shine. Right now it has a bit over 212k miles on it.

Oh, and I make sure it sees redline ever time I drive it.

I have been using my 84 Targa as my ONLY car for almost three years since moving here to Florida. It had 94k when I bought and now has 125k. I use it for everything including transporting ladders, plants, mulch, wood, etc. from Lowes each month and carrying dive equipment to the Keys every other month or so. I also do all the maintenance myself. I owned a BMW 330Ci before this and wanted to return to a simpler and more raw experience. No regrets at all.

Which one?

The one on the right is about to roll over 200k with no major work, and I drive it 50 miles round-trip daily. Life is good.

It was when I owned it.

1988 911 targa
3.2L
G50
bought 110k miles sold 160k miles

For a couple of years I was probably putting 50-60 miles a day from my commute. Most of my commute was at highway speeds.

Yup -
This is my second Porsche as my daily driver. I used to drive a 1967 912 every day for almost 3 years. Gave up on it as I decided I wanted to try to be a "muscle car" guy. So I moved to a 91 Mustang 5.0. That was a great car to drive, but to complicated to work on the fuel injection system. Now I'm back with Porsche:

82 SC Targa with a 3.0
915 tranny
220k on the chassis
95k on the motor rebuild (so I'm told)
Only been driving it 2 months..exactly...
3100 miles and counting

Great! As many of you know I'm educating myself so I can buy smart and it will be my daily driver. I just want to make certain that it would be a reilable car for that purpose. Sounds like they more than met the criteria.

Keep the stories coming guys....

1980
Targa to Cab
3.0 (Second one)
915 trans
chassis 50k? second motor 80k reseal and raceware studs

Daily driver for the past 7 months, future updates to suspension and adding a Carrera cooler if its still my daily driver after my 912e

Its good for a daily driver but I would rather daily drive my 912e when it's finished, won't have to deal with the warm up

My 2001 Boxster (33.5k miles now) has been my daily driver since last August when I bought it...rain, sleet, snow...whatever.

But...

The Boxster has been in the shop, so the '78 SC Targa (80k miles) has been my daily driver for the past three weeks.

But...

I'm having a hard time selling the SC, so I'm considering selling the Boxster.

But...

My SC won't become a daily driver as I'm buying a '99 Subaru Forester from my brother. The SC will be a mostly daily driver, with the Forester being an "extreme weather day" driver.

....is that the most complicated answer to a simple question you've ever read?

Somebody should create a poll?

82 Targa with 134K miles. I've owned the car 8 months, 4 of which it was up on jack stands.
I put about 25 miles a day on it.
