That doesn't sound right.
Wayne's book says that but.....................the Valve cover nuts are M8 and the sump plate nuts are M6. The M6 cannot get more torque than the M8, something is wrong. I'll buy the 6-8 ft-lbs for the sump (M6) but the valve cover (M8) is more like 12-18 ft-lbs. A lot of times the sump plate gets warped from over-torqueing. Straighten the plate first, apply the new gaskets, start with an easy 6-8 ft-lbs. Install the sump plate so that the pick-up for the pump is not impaired; plug on the left. Valve covers: With only 6 ft-lbs, the Alu crush washers wouldn't even seal. Use ~12 ft-lbs at first. Watch both sump and valve covers for leaks. You can always tighten more if it leaks. Another issue is that a torque wrench for ft-lbs is not accurate in the very low range; your'e getting into inch-pounds for M6. Cheers.
