Quiet single-in/single out muffler for SC?

I would like the next muffler for my 82 SC to be somewhat quieter than the sports muffler that is currently on it. I don't know what the make is, but it's a single-in/single-out. I do have a cat installed. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If not stock, a Monty is a good compromise.

Depends what do you mean by "sports muffler" that's on there now.

Search fo "monty". Someone in Canada just posted a clip of a new Monty install. I was surprised at how much quieter it seemed than me M&K. You could also look at a thread I started not too long ago (Search for "ultimate exhaust sound clip thread")

Really Not that much different in sound levels. Your not being helpful LOL! But honestly there is not that much different in sound levels. No sport muffler is going to be that quiet.

Keep this in mind folks!

1st in stock config with stock cat and stock muffler it is about 80-84 DBs wot. With after markets mufflers they are going to be about the same but are louder at different rpm ranges then a stock muffler. When you removed the cat and put a bypass on look out that really wakens everything up. The stock muffler does a good job controlling sound levels there but if you choose after market ALL of them are fairly louder in that setup. Hope that helps allot

Sorry Ben...

You know I love your mufflers. Just sounded like he did not want a sporty muffler. Something more plain and boring. Kind of a a sissy muffler!

Just kidding hytem

I will trade my stock muffler for your sport. I think the stocker is quiet, mine is inexcellent shape as it has always been a Cali car.

Right--about not wanting a noisy muffler. Just want to be able to hear my radio.
Sounds like the stock muffler is the quietist?

Well, we could just trade cars. LOL. That would make it more simple.
I don't know the condition of mine--looks OK. Have only had the car a year, but the sales receipt looks like it has only about 20K miles on it. Sounds good above 60 mph. Don't know the brand.
What brand is yours? single-in/out? How many miles?

Mine is the stock brand Liestritz or Dansk.. not sure, I can take a picture of it. Looks like a used muffler but way better condition than most you see in the forums. really no rust..PM if you are serious.

What brand is yours? Dansk I would assume..

yup the quietest.. To me the 1 in 1outs are pretty quiet unless you use the cat bypass or premuffler. then they get loud

I have no idea. The invoice just says muffler on the receipt I have.
It's an aftermarket of some kind.
How many miles does yours have?

I have an 87 cab that used to have a B&B 1in 2out. I replaced the muffler w/ a Bursch 1in 1out and even with the cat bypass i am
very happy w/ the exahust levels and I still get the tingle factor from 4-6000 rpm.

Hytem,

Mine is probably the original as I don't have a receipt for a replacement. Car has 100k miles, so muffler probably has that. All I know is I have a factory premuffler and the car is too quiet for my tastes. Let me know if you are still interested.

I would really like to get one of Ben's center exit twin mufflers.... I will make the jump when I remove the bumperettes.
