For a dedicated race car, I'd prefer to have the quarters and the front and rear pieces dzus'd on for two reasons. Easy access to work on anything under them. (suspension, brakes, oil lines, coolers, etc.) The other is it's a lot easier to replace something if/when it gets damaged. Just my personal choice.

John,

I agree about the dzuz fastenrs for the rear qaurters as well. It sure is nice to work on a Porsche when all the body parts are easily removable. Although, I am the boss, the check writer is the over seeing, deciding factor on all decisions..

I understand. It's going to be a great looking car when it's done no matter what.

rain gutters

Here's the body with the rain gutters off, the roof molded in and a little body filler applied.

Here's how the quarters look with just a little body filler and some rough sanding.

This car should be getting wheels that will properly fill the wheel wells. 13" rears and 10" wide fronts.

To be continued

This project will be getting a Turbo 3.4 liter engine controlled by a Haltech full engine management system. It will have a shortened G-50 5 spd. gear box. The brakes may or may not be upgraded as the customer needs to make some choices. If the Pelicans have an interest we will keep the updates with pictures coming.

Looks good!
Keep the updates coming.

Keep em coming Bill. It's good to see you work on someone else's car for a change;)

That doesn't look like race car paint - it's way too good!

911nut 01-27-2009 02:08 PM

Thank God it's red. I was going to lose my mind if I saw another Mexico Blue 911 project :D

It looks great, you guys really are moving along pretty darn fast.

just wondering, why would you not just start with a 993 that already has a G50+3.6 and strip/gut it? would they not be similar is weight?
Thanks
