idle question

this is the third time i had the car out, ran great every time , now i've seemed to have developed an idling problem...when she's warm and i come to a redlight the idle wants to pulsate and when she's cold she pulsates and theres a popping sound coming out of the exhaust could this be a rich condition that has developed? I talked to the PO mechanic and he said the oxygen sensor has been disconnected and it does have a autothority(spelling?) performance chip he thought it might have need to have a mixture adjustment.....any thoughts would be appreciated
thanks...phil

plug the O2 sensor back in. Check to see if you have one first (on the cat) then follow the wiring into the engine bay and make sure it is connected. If you don't have one at all I think you should get one.

edit: you should search the topic on this board. 84-89 with the ECU work much better than w/o O2 sensor, particularly with normal driving. If it is a total track car, then talk to a race mechanic on set up.

My mechanic says that these cars with chips run better with the O2 sensor unplugged, so mine is unplugged and it runs great.

Cat by pass-disconnected 02 sensor question

best to read a few more than 2 opinions and make your own judgement.
