Too bad the guys did not take the Southern route. Could have taken them up in my bird.

todd...used to have a couple cessna's, as my siggy suggests, but not one right now. a c-150 goes for $60 wet down here in north little rock where i'll probably do the work of my instructing again.

joe - what are your thoughts on these receiver/driers? the guys want to put the $180 version on the car if i go that route..i've mentioned that many on the forum use rather cheap driers. they say that cheap driers can break up somehow and get debris into the system? really great pics, btw. :)

Joeaksa 04-09-2007 09:00 PM

I used a generic dryer in my car and no problems with it. Personally I would put a post on the 911 board and ask about others experiences and bet you would find that most are not paying a crazy price for a dryer.

Thx, and one of the nice things about the West. Beautiful sights and good flying weather most of the time.

Ok just got a call from the boys. They've hit a small snag.. seems the front oil cooler lines broke/sagged down from the mount and rubbed a tire down to the core. The other tire is showing signs of inner camber wear as well. So they are getting a couple of used tires put on and are repairing the oil line mount. Sooo lunch in Vegas might be a bit delayed, although they are still planning on making it ( might be a bit late however, stay tuned)

Must have been the jump through the hoop (in the illustration from Donny) that did it! :)

They were having vibration issues anyway and hopefully this takes care of both problems.

yeah the found the back wheel was a bit out of balance, that's how they found it in fact

75Carrera 04-10-2007 08:10 AM

How far did they get down the road before they stoped to find this (hopefully) minor issue, Todd?

Grady Clay 04-10-2007 08:13 AM

Tires are now mounted & balanced. The guys are just walking into NAPA to find a bracket.

Jriera (Jordi)
You have PM with Charles’ cell number.

They were on thier way about two hours outside of Vegas, so not sure what town they were in.. Unfortunately, both of the front tires are shot as the inside of the other one was wearing to thread.. Chris had the car aligned just before they left as well!!!!
Had the oil line broken it could have been catastrophic!!!! So new tires are the least of my worries...I'll just be happy to have the car,, err I mean them here safe and sound :)

HWgeek 04-10-2007 10:15 AM

UGH... Stinking low hanging oiler cooler lines! :D
All up and out of the way now... couple Adel clamps some strapping wire, some bailing wire, and duct tape and we are good to go!
It was AMAZING that here in Kingman, AZ the second worst armpit of AZ (williams I think is first) they had a pair of nice lightly used 235/45R17 not Z rated but WTF!
So its 11am and we are fueling up as I speak. Got internet via flyingJ stores ($5.. sigh) hopefully we can hook up with Jordi, and maybe take a few minutes to finally upload all the wonderful pix from the Grand Canyon etc!

Tally ho!

PS Chris says "Todd, you suck" :D

75Carrera 04-10-2007 10:18 AM

I'm betting they were in Kingman since it's about the only populated place between Williams and Las Vegas. Glad to hear the stresses, wear and tear, drippy leavings and strange smells are all taken care of. And glad the car's okay too! LOL

I"m going to remember that someday when the boy needs a kidney or some other non mission critical body part I may have to spare......:D

Hey guys is it me or do Charles and the Mrs sound like they are getting cranky ? I told you in my first or second post that we needed to get Charles laid on this trip!!!

jriera 04-10-2007 10:36 AM

They are on the road again!!!! next stop Las Vegas !!

75Carrera 04-10-2007 10:41 AM

We trued to help with that!

We told Charles there were not too many opportunities for personal refief in Williams, except for that old Chinaman...

Charles was askng questions about him so we said we'd get a couple of the boys and drag that Chinaman over...

"What do you mean a couple of the boys, I don't go for that $hit?" he protested...

Yea, we told him. That Chinaman doesn't go for that $hit either!
