good morning Chris!! the less than optimal performance could possibly be the elevation you wer/are at or the 1/2 full gas tank hindering fuel flow??
You need to post a pic of the mt. bikes on the roof of the 930...charles said you were going to bring them...you know...just in case you need them ;-) ;-) Chris, make sure you bring me back some momento from this cruise of all trips...h^ll, even an oil soiled rag used to check the dip stick can be framed. I think Grady summarized this journey perfectly... everyone should do what ever they can to take a trip like this 3-4x in their lives...1 before kids/marriage...1 with the family...1 with wife AFTER kids moved out...1 with the buddies. A perfect adventure in a 911...soo much potential for "fun" at the drop of a hat. What could be better. Enjoy...be smart...take care of yourselves... you can catch a cold out there without heat ;-) Look fwd to seeing the trip pics!! Bob |

If you can spare the time, take a spin up Nine Mile Road:eek: |
Weeeeellll..... we decided to take the scenic route!! That meant, going probably about 60 -70 miles out of our way.
The route we ended up taking is in green, the route we should have taken is the nice shorter blue line. In the pitch pitch black, and i mean pitch black, as the high beams looked like lows at best ( and once we turned of the lights we could see Chris' home world, which I think is Antares) We stayed on 190 rather than taking a left on wildrose road We finally ended up over at Olancha and by LUCK found gas at Coso Junction. At at point we had 3 gallons left (just checking to see if the fuel gauge was working, at it wasn't! we had a 1/4 tank on fuel gauge.. hahaha) which MIGHT have gotten us into Ridgecrest! Chris was mmmmm slightly concerned (or running around in circles and mumbling something about deliverance) Well off to see the big trees :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1176304540.jpg |
We are leaving in 10 min, with a planned 2hr stop in Sequoia (I expect it to take less than that... think National Lampoons Vacation :D ) and our current anticipated ETA will be 7:30 in San Jose/Bay Area.
Any folks up for dinner? I know we will be hungry :D We could also do b-fast tomorrow morning, and if it makes sense lunch if we can get a bunch of folks together on thursday. Then we are off to Yosemite, to beat the weekend crowds and go see the big bald rock thingy Cheers! |
eff'n chuckie.. ;)

Oh yea http://www.deathvalley.com/reserve/reserve.shtml
This place is a gas station, one building on the side of the road... This is where we found our free internet! Resort would be a looong stretch :D |

Chris & Charles,
Here is the link: http://rmvr.com/events/school.html If you guys want, I can find you (perhaps free) lodging and transportation to & from DIA. Possibly meals, etc at the event. On the other hand, be prepared for normal (cheap) prices. This will take some organization on my part – let me know. This will be a fun event. Best, Grady |
Chas/Chris what are your plans for hanging around Cali? If you hang around California long enough I'll be in Laguna beach area on the 19th, through Sunday the 22nd. Maybe we could meet up in LA on Sat.
|
We are in Fremont (around the corner from San Jose/Sunnyvale. As they say the Dodo's have landed!! Wooof... now we take a slight break and head up to Tahoe for this weekend and get some girls and skiing :D
We may switch with Todd so we can swing over to Yosemite (which may still have some snow!) And the trip isn't completely over yet ;) |
Well... did you guys get lucky in Vegas?

Will you be in the Bay Area long enough to head over to Sears Point Raceway for Porsches with Trackmasters this coming Monday? Many BAP's will be on hand.

Chris, that's quite the wood your sportin there!! Charles, did Vegas treat you the same??? Todd's got his work cut out......

Looks like we're not going to Yosemite today. Instead we're going to Smart Racing so I can do some shopping and then to San Francisco via the scenic route. I want to get a seashell from the Pacific for a souvenir.
Wish we could have met up with some California Pelicans but it's mid week and everyone needs to do that work thing. Hmmm, I should be getting back to that too I guess. :D This afternoon we'll be heading to Lake Tahoe. We've got Todd's Audi so we'll be in stealth mode. -Chris |
We will be rolling through san francisco at roughly 5pm- ish
603-TOP-KATS call if people want to arrange to meet for dinner. we have streets and maps so anywhere works :D Cheers! Charles |
