Of course if you really PUSH, you could meet us 7:45 AM tomorrow (4/6/07) in Pueblo for a track day. :D

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1175800021.jpg

Let me know today if you need instructions. The track is a couple of miles west of I-25 just off US-50.

I'll even put you up at a local inn and stay. We have a PCA Instructors Session Saturday in Denver so I have to depart early.

Drive safe,
Grady

9dreizig 04-05-2007 12:17 PM

Uhm Grady,, this is my car,, do you have ANY IDEA of Chris's track history ?? LOL But I'll call them and tell them of the invite..

9dreizig 04-05-2007 12:41 PM

Grady, just looked at the map and called those guys, looks like it would be too much of a stretch to get there.. AND they only have bicycle helmets for the track!

Grady Clay 04-05-2007 12:48 PM

Guys,

Here is another alternative:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1175802366.jpg

From Amarillo go North to Lamar on US-287,
West on US-50 to the track
and continue West on US-50 to Carson City.

If you want to get back to I-40 and Santa Fe, I-25 is easy.

I’m not proposing you use track time. There will be 15-20 Pelicans,
some with race cars, trailers and TOOLS, if you need.
The track even has oil disposal if you need.

PLEASE drive carefully, it isn’t you,
it is the others that concern me.

Best,
Grady

Grady Clay 04-05-2007 01:06 PM

Guys,

If you want this route, there are even a Pelican family in Lamar, CO. I can try and contact. I’m sure there are many others along your route.

Seriously, I’m not proposing track time, just a Pelican Gathering, address any car issues, dinner & inn. What better place than a race track. You just might con some for at-speed rides.

My contact info is:
grady nospace clayathotmaildotcom and three-zero-three dash756dash7308. It takes 8+ rings to go to voice mail.

I’m sure there will be extra helmets. I'll bring a couple of my son's.

Best,
Grady

lol..you guys crack me up. you'll love that dry barbeque..we've got pretty good barbeque here, too, but the rendevouz in memphis is its most famous joint..entrance is through an alley..

another pilot, eh? getting a flight review tomorrow..it's that time..and going back to work in aviation after a long hiatus from it, but not back in the learjets..will be just instructing locally. i really got burned out flying lears for years on call. spent more time during each month at fl450 than on the ground! no thanks... ;)

was gonna run by a liquor store for the fellas if they wanted any. at 41, my drinking is pretty casual now, but i usually keep good bourbon and gin on hand. wine lover myself..what does charles favor or is her traveling with his own? not sure doe's has wine..might give a thousand mile stare when we ask.. ;)

any aidea on arrival time? will be calling you shortly after i choke down my lunch. been busy...wife's '06 c230 benz caught fire and was totaled a few days ago. i found her a 2001 boxster, so she's joining the p-car club. :)
ryan

9dreizig 04-05-2007 01:26 PM

Well I know Charles already bought a case of wine to send home.. I doubt he's carrying any with him.. These guys are pretty low maintenance, I wouldn't lose any sleep on it LOL..

bigchillcar 04-05-2007 01:30 PM

but....i spent good money on this grey poupon..

uhh, btw...they DO know how to use an outhouse, right? still waiting for running water/plumbing here in arkansaw.. SmileWavy

and if they've got time and the interest, i'll take them to see the book in the library!:D

Guys,

Here is the Pelican link for our “Fun Day” at the tack:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/336162-pueblo-co-trackday-4-6-07-a.html

Here is the link to the track:
http://www.pueblomotorsportspark.com/

Here is the track map and directions:
http://www.pueblomotorsportspark.com/pmifaq.htm
Note the three miles West of I-25. The left turn is after you go under a RR bridge. Be prepared to turn right after you cross the eastbound US-50 lanes (there is wide divided highway there).

If you encounter a closed gate, open it and close behind you.

Just after you pass the registration shack and scales, BE CAREFUL – you cross the track. There is a STOP sign. There won’t be anyone there.

The first thing you must do is sign the waivers. There is no cost unless you take your car on the track.

Let me know and I’ll get hotel reservations. There is a good “Texas Steakhouse” nearby. Also Wal-Mart, etc. and any other possible “service” :D you might need.

Best,
Grady

I did the Santa Fe to Memphis route last September, nice drive. Took 2 days for me Santa Fe to OK City, then most of a day in to Memphis. That would put you here Sunday? I'm up for a Rendevouz or Corky's (my favorite). Its only a couple of hours for Ryan, you could make it.

if grady was inviting me to the track i would be willing to make at least a 500 mile detour. you guys seem to be missing out on a raft of good stuff to see and do.

Safe journey guys!

Bump to find other Pelicans along the route.

Did you post on other forums? I won’t categorize.

The weather looks good.

Best,
Grady

Hi guys,
We made it and had a nice dinner at Doe's. Bigchillcar's neighbor's WiFi isn't fast enough so I'll wait on posting picture until later.
Looks like we'll hit Santa Fe a day later than we planned (Saturday)
Looks like we'll be in Amarillo Friday night now.
Big thanks to Ryan for putting us up.
-Chris

jtfreels - hey we were in Memphis yesterday, stopped by for a few minutes at Interstate BBQ... Tasty!!!
Tonight we are going to Amarillo, so saturday we could swing up to Pueblo, but unfortunately we would miss track day, since we just got up :-) or even colorado springs.
Grady - got your info, will try to ring you tonight at some point, to see if we can make something happen (or see if it makes sense etc)

And hey! We got fuses from Ryan! Woohoo, we might be able to get the radio in the car working again! He said something about not needing those old things ;-)

ChrisBennet 04-06-2007 07:38 AM

I'm confused,, did Ryan shave after dinner or did he grow the beard so he wouldn't be recognized with you two?? Nice trick if he did hahaha

dandrews64 04-06-2007 08:26 AM

What? No pic of the Bronto Steak? I was hoping to live vicariously. :)

bigchillcar 04-06-2007 09:51 AM
