The drain plug is on the bottom and the fill plug is a bit forward, on the driver side, and halfway up the side of the case. When changing the fluid make sure you can get the fill plug out first before draining the tranny.

You need to raise the rear end of the car to get underneath it.

One way is to use 2 pair of jack stands. Raise the front and rear and set the car on the stands, keeping the transmission level.

Climb underneath and remove the fill plug from the side of the transmission. Quite often, the plug is extremely tight and practically iumpossible to break loose. PB Blaster sprayed around it works, as does heating the case (not the plug) with a propane torch. Once you get the fill plug off, go ahead and remove the drain plug.

Ideally, there should be just under a gallon of fluid. Between 3 and 4 quarts.

To refill, replace the drain plug and then use a funnel with a long hose. Hang the funnel from a ladder, with the hose leading into the fill port. Slowly pour the new tranny fluid into the funnel until you see it start to flow out the same fill hole. (This is where it is important for the tranny to be level).

Again, the tranny takes between 3 and 4 quarts of transmission fluid. Once it is filled, go ahead and replace the fill plug. A little bit of anti-seize will be very rewarding when it comes time to change it again.

Good luck!

Randy

P.S. If you're new to working underneath vehicles, this is a good read...click here.

Pump the gear oil in with a hand pump, ask your local auto part store.

putting one of these on four jackstands can be tricky if you're not careful.

To check the level of the fluid open the fill plug and stick your finger in there, you should just be able to touch the fluid. To change it you can do a search here there is alot of good info and tricks like heating up the container of new fluid in the hot sun or a double boiler and using a funnel and plastic tubing up on a ladder to fill the tranny. The fluid is very thick and viscus much more than oil...
