Wow!

I just hope he loses the cigarette before he blows himself up! The Porsche community would suffer a huge loss were that to happen.

Man, I WISH he was available in Southern California! I'd love to have him come out and find my pesky oil leak and take a look at my CIS.

For me it is a big deal, but for him it would probably be a half day set of fixes. Really impressive!

Craig - you've got to buy Tom that James Dean poster - the Champion Spark plug one. He deserves it.

Was the car ersting on the ground or did you have it jacked up ready to go? Were all the hoses and connectors already pulled prior to him getting there?

What's his hourly rate?

If I knew then what I know now. Well I would have done what he does. How cool can that be?

My buddy has been a tech at the dealer for over 20 years. On a Saturday, when the service department was closed, he had my engine and trans out as a unit in 34 minutes. Even though he had the lift, engine stand, tools, and knowledge, I still thought that that 34 minutes was amazing. It's a pleasure to watch someone knowledgable and careful at work. He also didn't force anything, get dirty, or swear.....amazing!!

I thought swearing especially if you are by yourself was a requirement for mechanics. My Grandmother once told me how proud she was that my Grandad didn't swear. Holy *^#%@& I had learned all the great lines in cussing helping him change out clutches on tractors, or do any type of rudimentary mechanic work. He was a good mechanic and a an artitst in cussing.

(Dan from Pasadena)

Jimmy comes here once a month. He just did my major service, and stripped my engine apart so i can have my heads done. He has 3 big jobs next week and know he still is not booked for a full week yet. You should talk to him.
He stripped my SC engine in like under 5 hours.
He is coming the week starting the 3rd, and will be leaving Friday morning.
Call him or email. porscheworks@aol.com 916.420.8774

Is Tom Peruvian? Just curious since it looks like a Peruvian flag on his tool chest. I'm also from Peru.

Another big thumbs up for Tom Amon. He came by this morning and did in two hours what would have taken me a weekend of piddling around to accomplish (oil & filter, swepco in the 915, shifter coupler bushings, adjust clutch & hand throttle, tune).

And he didn't charge extra to let me watch!

Will definitely be having him visit again ... he left me a bunch of homework (pedal bushings, fuel accumulator ...)

In the second pic you will see the large Starbucks cup and the can of coke.....

Starbucks + Coke+ Pack of Marlboro Reds = 4 hours and 15 minutes....

Ask me how I know....

I've got about 4:15 on the clock in trying to remove the engine carrier bolts. They're still in there...........

He's kicked the habit - no more smoking, eating more fruits and vegetables, so he says.

He certainly didn't light up when he was here today. (He had plenty of the Peet's coffee I made him, though!)

Thumbs up

I have nothing for respect and gratitude for Tom Amon and his amazing abilities as a Porsche wizard.

His help to get my 911E breathing again after an 11 year hibernation was nothing short of amazing... and indeed
he works fast.

He did quit smoking, so that is a great thing for Tom.
