Switch Sticking Too!
Ok guy...Here's my other issue. Sometimes, when I insert my key to start the '83 911 SC, the ignition switch will not turn at all. It appears to be locked and I have to sit there and tinker with it before it will unlock and start. This can be a 2 try effort or a 2 minute exercise sometimes. One guy at work mentioned a ...tumbler? What can I expect to pay to correct this issue?
Thanks again. |

I have the same issue - I shoot it with WD40 but there is a lot of people who say dont use wd40 but to use graphite or whatever. Just as many for as against. The tumplers are sticking due to old age, gunk or whatever. Eventually you will need to replace the mechanical part of the switch (and key).
WD40 works for me so thats what I do. Its been a while since I had this happen but mine sounds worst than yours. Took me 15 minutes of jiggling. Do a search - there is plenty to read about it.

You might try silicone spray.
