Hi, I'm looking to change the rears on my 1983 911sc soon, the current width is 225 and the rims are 7" wide, is it possible to fit a wider tyre to this rim and what would the limit be?
cheers

225 is about as wide as you want to go on a 7" wheel.
Any more and the sidewalls are pinched too far, and handling and wear suffer. |

To go any wider , I think you would need at least an 8" , I have 245 / 45 on my 8's and they fit fine, 7's up front with 225/50(rolled fenders)
regards, Peter

Toyo tires has a pretty good spec sheet that tells you what size tire can fit on a range of sizes of rims.
