Replacing Sunroof Seals
I am replacing my sunroof seals and need to know the best way to trim the rubber cord inside the velvet strips so that they can overlap. Tried a search but no help, anyone BTDT?

Hey Pame..
Kind of a bummer when the front sunroof seal and the panel seal have to be trimmed. If both were to be glued on, then you certainly would have an overlap, so maybe Porsche thought that an extra inch or so would help, for that just in case scenario! Cutting or trimming the pieces require a very sharp tool in order to cut the metal band inside the seal. If you mess that up the outer fabric will come a part and eventually fray and lead to more damage. I used a very sharp scissors to cut everything down including the metal strip. I sealed the end with some clear glue to ensure the fabric will not come apart or get pushed back. The seal on the panel itself takes the most abuse, so make sure you seal the end well without taking away from the appearance. Bob 73.5T |
